Meet the Press: Transcript for March 9, 2007 (3/9/08) by Tim Russert
PBS's Gwen Ifill tells Russert she finds itunderstandable why the Obama people think there is some gain in reminding people that [Hillary Clinton] voted for the war, but I'm beginning to wonder that, absent any new bad news out of Iraq, that is something that is useful.
A consistent Iraq War Pollyanna like Ifill may be able to convince herself there's currently no "bad news out of Iraq," but even those who treat official pronouncements about "improvements" in Iraq with no skepticism would have a hard time seeing "no bad news" at all—even if one often has to turn to non-U.S. outlets; see BBC: Death Toll Rises in Baghdad Bombs (3/7/08).
Sixty-eight people were killed in twin bomb attacks on a shopping area in central Baghdad, Iraq's interior ministry has said. The Thursday blasts left another 130 people injured, officials said.
