Media Views

Once again offering the standard media advice for Democrats--move to the right:
For four decades, Democratic candidates have had to move to the center to have a chance of getting to the White House. But now, sensing a shift in the national mood, both candidates are reverting to liberal orthodoxy.

Of course, for four decades, Democratic candidates have largely followed media instructions to move to the right--with remarkably little electoral success. (Bill Clinton, media's Exhibit A for the expediency of moving right, actually campaigned and won on a platform of opposition to trickle-down economics and a promise of universal healthcare.) One would almost think that pundits are less interested in promoting Democratic success than they are in discouraging progressive politics.
