Washington Post: Crunch Time for McCain (1/22/08) by E. J. Dionne Jr.

The Post columnist manages to mangle two pretty simple ideas about the GOP hopeful:
Florida will be especially complicated because Rudy Giuliani, who has hung back from the competition so far, is fiercely contesting McCain for moderate voters, particularly Republicans who favor abortion rights. They are a more significant constituency in the party than is usually recognized. Giuliani, unlike McCain, is an outright proponent of keeping abortion legal.

No matter how often repeated by campaign reporters, the former point is just wrong: Giuliani spent a lot of money in Iowa, campaigned very hard in New Hampshire, and for months we were reading long articles about him cultivating a serious base in South Carolina—but he bailed on those states once he started slipping. As for being an "outright proponent of keeping abortion legal," see FAIR's Media Advisory: Giuliani, Pro-Choice?: Media Mislabel GOP Front-Runner (11/13/07)
