A investigatory committee of Post staffers finds a management emphasis on celebrity reporters—who are "rarely minorities"—reinforcing the fact thatnearly half of the newsroom jobs filled between January 2003 and October 2005 were never posted.... "Of those unposted jobs, 74 percent went to non-minorities."
The result has been an "exodus" of "black, Asian and Latino journalist[s]."

Reporters unsuccessfully try to get answers from the White House press secretary about why—after the news of Dick Cheney shooting his fellow hunter was withheld until a day after the incident—they were not told of the shooting victim's worsening medical condition.
