Robert McChesney

Robert W. McChesney is a professor at the Unversity of Illinios at Champaign/Urbana. His work concentrates on the relationship of media to capitalism and to democracy.

He is the author of over 100 articles and several books, including The Problem of the Media (Monthly Review Press, 2004), Corporate Media and the Threat to Democracy (Seven Stories Press, 1997), Telecommunications, Mass Media and Democracy (Oxford, 1995) and, with Edward S. Herman, The Global Media: The New Missionaries of Corporate Capitalism (Cassell, 1997) and Rich Media, Poor Democracy (University of Illinois Press, 1999).

He is a former magazine publisher and sportswriter. McChesney serves on the editorial board for The Progressive and the board of directors for In These Times and the Institute for Public Accuracy.
