Kudos to Paul Farhi of the Washington Post (3/2/12) for talking about the obvious deceptions and inaccuracies in right-wing publisher Andrew Breitbart’s work:
News organizations found, for example, that the ACORN videos–which purported to show a young Mr. Breitbart ally named James O’Keefe posing as a pimp seeking advice from the organization about how to establish a brothel and evade taxes–actually presented a heavily edited account of what had happened.
An investigation by the California attorney general’s office concluded that O’Keefe had added footage of himself and an ally dressed in flamboyant costumes that they had not worn to ACORN’s offices. By then, it was too late for ACORN: Outraged conservatives in Congress stripped the organization of federal funding.
The Sherrod and NPR videos also misrepresented key parts of those stories. In the former, Mr. Breitbart presented only a brief clip of a speech in which Sherrod acknowledged that she had discriminated against a white farmer when she was a state agriculture official in Georgia. The subsequent uproar in 2010 prompted the Obama administration to seek her resignation. By day’s end, however, the full video of Sherrod’s speech emerged, revealing that she had gone on to condemn her own actions and to seek justice for the white farmer. An embarrassed Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack apologized and offered Sherrod her job back.
The NPR “sting” showed two fundraisers for the media organization making disparaging comments about conservatives during a lunch in Georgetown. Among other things, the edited tape presented one of the NPR executive’s more incendiary comments as his own when, in fact, he had been quoting others. NPR‘s chief executive, Vivian Schiller, resigned a day later as conservative lawmakers intensified efforts to deny federal funding to public broadcasters. (That effort failed.)
As many have pointed out, these lies live on. An ABCNews.com piece on Breitbart–since corrected–referred matter-of-factly to how he “broke the ACORN child sex trafficking scandal.”
Which brings me to a weakness in Farhi’s piece–his explanation of Breitbart’s ability to get his work into the mainstream media:
He exploited a flaw of the contemporary news media: that in the rush to attract online traffic, news sources sometimes cast aside context and basic fact-checking. Many outlets reported Mr. Breitbart’s “revelations” only to discover that the story was not as it had initially seemed.
Attributing Breitbart’s success in getting media attention to a desire for “online traffic” is strange. Old media outlets like the Post and the New York Times gave his work a huge boost. If there’s a media flaw here–and there most certainly is–it is the willingness to let a right-wing activist get a free pass. It might be the fact that media outlets who are relentlessly, falsely battered for being “liberal” feel compelled to disprove the bogus charge by giving right-wing voices more ink and airtime.
The most interesting admission in the piece comes from Rich Lowry of the National Review:
Lowry said Mr. Breitbart “wasn’t a journalist in the traditional sense of dotting every i and crossing every t.” As such, his journalistic lapses “didn’t damage him on the right. He wasn’t playing by the traditional media rules.”
That’s a fairly damning assessment of the right, from the right.

Don’t you think Farhi’s engaged in some heavyweight rationalizing?
To say that “news sources *sometimes* cast aside context and basic fact-checking” is at odds with the reality. If that were the case, there’d be a hell of a lot fewer entries in this blog, wouldn’t there?
As for Breitbart, we can only hope that there is an afterlife.
And that it has a much greater fealty to justice than this mortal realm.
Breitbart sucked!!!
Good riddance to bad rubbish is what I say about that guy.
I am not losing any sleep about this ‘loss’ either!
Andrew Breitbart was not a journalist and never presented himself as one.
He was an unhappy guy from Brentwood who wanted attention but could find no other way to get it than to be a contrarian. Once he got some attention that way, he proceeded to get more and more outrageous in his attempts to get that one bit of video or soundbite that could end a politician’s career.
In the case of Anthony Weiner, he succeeded in exploiting Weiner’s own actions and happily watched as the congressman imploded. In the case of ACORN, Shirley Sherrod and NPR, he used edited footage to try discredit the people with whom he disagreed. In those cases, he mostly failed, and in the case of Sherrod in particular, his estate faces a significant lawsuit from her. When they inevitably settle and fork over a large payment to her, it will be the final statement of what was a fairly nasty and mean-spirited career.
He was married to a friend of a friend of mine, and even last year I was told about how he was a nice, funny guy at family gatherings. About how he was always trying to be the life of the party and the class clown. It’s very easy to picture this as his beginnings, when he was just another kid in a Brentwood school who didn’t fit in with everyone else. It’s just a shame that the way he dealt with his issues was to cause pain and misery to others.
The sad result of his life’s work is that his contribution actually made many people’s lives worse. Even a far right wing commentator like John Ziegler had to admit today that Breitbart’s real wish was to get attention and acceptance from the media – and that the wave of adulation heard yesterday is something Breitbart had always wanted for himself. The view of history will be substantially harsher. In the end, he was just another angry right wing blogger who would fix the facts to fit his point of view, and who was never adult enough to accept responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
Do you honestly believe that now is a good time to be talking sh*t about a guy who was just murdered…I mean died of a heart attack? I know Media Matters is a George Soros Socialistic New WOrld Order organization however Americans are not going to stand by and let you strip everyones freedom. Andrew Breitbart…whether I agree or not with his philosophies, SHOULD DAMN WELL be allowed to voice his opinion and what you propose is that we silence opposition. I endorse opposition and the editors of this article need to get their head out of their bum and wake the HELL UP. Keep on spreading your left/right agenda. Andrew was critical of a Bush administration, just as he was an OBAMA administration whereas this organization only speaks AGAINST the REPUBLICAN viewpoint. Are you really critical or liberal in thought? Or perpetuating a HATE and racial divide movement. Bad journalism bit here, HIGHLY DISLIKE. BUT UNLIKE YOUR ARTICLE, I endorse the RIGHT to have bad journalism whereas YOU WANT THEM SILENCED OR CELEBRATE THEIR DEATH…SICKENING!
We still don’t have a coroner’s report, nor does there seem to be interest in one.
That’s odd seeing that with Michael Jackson’s and Whitney Houston’s deaths it
seemed obligatory. Did he fake his death for a story? hahaha
Thank you Matt Taibbi, you excel in these situations…
“But he also had enough of a sense of humor to appreciate why someone like me shouldn’t bother to pretend I’m sad he’s dead. He wouldn’t, in my place. So to use one of his favorite words: Good riddance, cocksucker.* Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

All consuming hatred eventually consumes itself.
This is something I noticed several years ago when I was writing opinion pieces for the university student newspaper. I was asked numerous times for evidence or references to back up things I’d written — for example, that conservative evangelical Christians have a higher divorce rate than other denominations. It has never bothered me to support things I’ve written, so I supplied the evidence happily. And this, mind you, was opinion page stuff, not news. I can’t say for sure, but judging from the right-wing writers on the opinion page, no one ever asked them to back up statements of fact they made; and judging by the right-wingers I’ve known, they would not have taken kindly to such a request. There’s a distinct double standard in the “liberal” media (and of course the student paper was frequently attacked for being liberal), and it doesn’t operate in favor of liberal or left positions.
You figure all that stuff out by yourself, Jeff? Good to see you endorse bad journalism–so stick with freaks and mountebank liars like the late, not so great Breitbart. That little ltying sociopath, Bretbart’s chief stooge, James O’Keefe, is still very much alive. Perhaps you and he can put your heads together and figure out what liberal whacked Breitbart. Get to it!
Thanks, Kate, for that link. Be sure to check out The Rude Pundit for some appropriately rude stuff on A.B.
I’ve noticed that a lot of right-wingers, always thin-skinned, are flipping out over the comments of some liberals and real journalists who are giving the late A.B. a taste of his own bad medicine. Don’t worry, wingers: Breitbart will be utterly and completely forgotten within two months. Toughen up, and deal with it. Your man is the perfect example of what’s wrong with you. A lying, ignorant, thin-skinned dope whose claim to fame was his inchoate screeching ramblings and extraordinarily bad ideas and invective. Cheers, losers! Deliver dead flowers and mis-spelled notes, and phony tears to his grave.
No, Jeff Marley, we’d be the first to defend his right to spout lies…
but we will also be the first to call him on them…
And to not be too disturbed when a dangerous liar like breitbart kicks the bucket…
dont understand how everyone can be so dumb. this is a amazing. brietbart was just a guy trying to expose corruption, lies and deciept. he was murdered because he had video of obama meeting with known terrorists. does anyone here realize the reprocutions of this? or is this site filled with dumb down non educated fox news watchers? the comment thread on this site symbolizes everything wrong with our country right now. sad.
As opposed to a safe liar?
I love Robert Reid’s comment because he’s now become a target of the same people who got Breitbart. Rob, watch out because “they” know where you are…
It might be the fact that media outlets who are relentlessly, falsely battered for being “liberal” feel compelled to disprove the bogus charge by giving right-wing voices more ink and airtime.
Which is why the righties keep accusing the media of being “liberal” even though it is obvious that the media isn’t.
Some people have been saying don’t say anything negative about Breitbart, have some compassion, don’t speak ill of the dead. I’m sorry, but by that logic we all ought to be celebrating Adolf Hitler for being a great humanitarian: sure, he did some bad things, but he had his good points: He was a vegetarian. He loved dogs. He was a true patriot. RETCH! I’m sorry, no amount of redeeming qualities can expunge the evil that he did. While Breitbart’s antics were not on the same scale as Hitler’s, they manifest the same opportunism, excused by a cynical moral bankruptcy. If I’m ever in the graveyard, I’ll tap dance on his grave. My empathy goes out to his family on what must be a sad occasion for them. But thank the Goddess he didn’t live to poison the body politic any more.
I believe that the man wrote his own epitaph, did he not? “A special pile of human excrement.”
Breitbart deserves nothing more than a simple obituary. As far as I’m concerned, he lost all credibility when he “exposed” Sherrod and Acorn. Anyone with a sense of fairness and conscience would never have blasphemed innocent people. That the media gave him any space at all is a statement about how uncritical we, as a nation, have become of the news media. I frequently hear of something a news paper has written that is clearly not true, exaggerated or has omitted several important facts that change the meaning completely, i.e., the Sherrod farce. Some of my right wing pals are now prefacing their screeds with “I haven’t fact checked this…”
I fail to see why we should now revere Breibart because he died. He was a scoundral who had a deep need to get attention however he could; the more utrageously, the better.
It reminds me of Daniel Shorr’s comment on the eulogies for President Nixon. He asked: “who was this man they were talking about; certainly not the Nixon I remember.” (Some of you may recall that Nixon had an extensive enemies list and Shorr was on it. Nixon was trying to ruin his esteemed career because Shorr was given to telling the truth to power.)
As people like Jeff Marley know perfectly well, NOW is exactly the time to get the narrative straight on the lying, slandering, reptilian Breitbart. That’s exactly why Marley’s so desperate to try to stop thoughtful people from taking a candid look at AB’s lamentable, odious, hateful, creepy-crawly, pseudo-journalistic, life. Forget the mind control, Marley. You just can’t bury the ugly truth about Breitbart. “….in the end the truth will out.”
k Gillespie has a fawning tribute to Breitbart on CNN.com (of course) called “How Andrew Breitbart changed the news”:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/01/opinion/gillespie-breitbart/index.html?hpt=hp_bn9
Yeah, he proved that you can get away with editing video to distort the truth and then earn high praise after your death even though everyone knows you were a dirty liar in life.
Sorry: Nick Gillespie wrote the CNN.com piece.
(His whole name didn’t highlight before I copied/pasted it. Damn this cheap-ass Chinese technology!)
@Jeff Marley; why should Breitbart’s ravings be given any more attention or credibility than anyone else’s though. That’s the issue, not the nonsense you’re whining about. Andrew Breitbart was treated like a Right Wing God by the media, giving his “opinions” (read as: prejudices) credence and important over any other “normal guy pissed off at an aspect of the world. We damn the media for his godhood as much as we blame the man for being a liar, a cheat and a propagandist. The harsh reality of the situation is that his death is beneficial to the US, and the world due to the lack of future frauds and lies from him.
If the man had just expressed his opinions without fabricating fake evidence to try to prove that his fevered delusions were true, then he would be “just a guy due his opinion”. The fact that he took it beyond “opinion” to fraud is why he is being reviled. It stopped being his opinion when he framed people and organizations for things they never did.
Actually, FAIR, YOU may be inaccurate. All the articles I read at the time indicated that Sherrod was offered ANOTHER job that did not interest her as much, NOT the job she was fired from. SO she declined…
> By then, it was too late for ACORN: Outraged conservatives in Congress stripped the organization of federal funding.
Not at all – the “conservatives” were not outraged. They simply saw an opportunity to eliminate a political foe.
It needs to be said again and again and again ad infinitum ad nauseum: IT IS OKAY TO HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION 9EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT YOUR OWN. IT IS NOT OKAY TO HAVE YOUR OWN FACTS!!!
Breitbart was a man who had fun trying to expose what he saw as corruption. No different that Michael Moore. He did some good work and some not so good work just like Michael.I watched all Moore’s movies, laughing a lot of the time at the spin.Im sure people on the left felt the same way about Breitbart. As a conservative I have no hatred for Michael Moore. In a free country with a free press I may not agree with his editing and work but I celebrate his passion.Breitbart is the same.God speed him on his journey. Why the bloggers here show hatred and disparage his memory is so mean spirited. So hateful.Really wake up.You elected a man as president who lies to your face every day every but as much as Clinton ever did(even if there is no Monica under the desk). This is what you spend your hatred on?
Obama derangement troll is Obama derangement trolling even when the subject is Andrew Breitbart.
There’s a very large moral blind spot for somebody to think that Braitbart is somehow a mirror image of Michael Moore. The complete tapes showed Braitbart to be a liar, while the complete tapes showed Michael Moore to be accurately presenting what happened. There’s a very big difference. Good on you for not hating somebody who’s trying to do good things for the country – certainly Moore falters, at different points he threw his support behind Hillary Clinton, and Obama – but I can’t blame people for hating on a guy who set out to destroy so many things that are good about America. Have you seen Braitbart at Occupy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4od4QQVK1o
Clearly a guy obsessed with the truth and facts. I challenge you to find some similar footage of Michael Moore, I’d love to see it.
the media’s flaw when dealing with brietbart was that they kept sourcing him after being burned repeatedly with stories that fell apart under even cursory examination….
paraphrasing juan cole “Dear Mainstream Media: Andrew Breitbart was not a journalist. He was a political trickster, a serial frame-up artist, a con man, a fraud, and a bully; the perfect representative of the modern conservative media.â┚¬Ã‚Â
As a life-long leftist/secular humanist, I don’t revel in the death of anyone, even right-wingers, such as the William Buckleys, Andrew Breitbarts, Ronald Reagans, etc – – – I only wish they had lived longer so that they could see the errors of their world view and repent/recant their previous works! And that’s not meant to be a fuzzy, feel-good Polyanna view… some of the more effective proponents of liberal views have been former conservatives, the aforementioned Anita Huffington or David Brock are two that come to mind. The apostate often resonates with some of his/her former colleagues because they’ve ‘been there’, so there’s a realpolitik pragmatism to it…
I guess we’ll never know with Breitbart, Big Em–there was something wrong with him at a very basic human level (not so with Huffington and Brock–they actually have feelings of empathy). He was sort of a cheap-jack, fouler-mouthed version of Rush Limbaugh. and, speaking of Limbaugh, I can’t help but think that Limbaugh’s latest outrages are a direct result of Breitbart’s death. It’s been one defeat after another for the Right, from Obama’s adroit handling of the original contraceptive uproar to the deeply unsettling spectacle of the Republican primary losers to one more noisy asshole Righty croaking at such an inopportune time. Limbaugh’s essentially calling any woman who uses contraception a whore and thief–a new low, even for him. We’ll see what happens next; maybe Rusty’s closet is about to blow open to reveal some nasty skeletons. Perhaps an ex-wife will no longer care about the ruinous cost of telling the truth about the man and his deep and abiding problems with women–and men.
Breitbart dead, Pat Buchanon booted, Andrew Napolitano booted, Limbaugh attacked for what he does. Within a couple of weeks, it’s been fairly one sided – not necessarily FAIR. This stinks! How about some analysis. This makes me think less of the source – big time.
Andy Warhol famously said that in the future everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame. I think Mr. Breitbart bought into that idea too much. Fifteen minutes wasn’t enough, but he needed a constant stream of 15 minute pieces and unending minutes of non-truthiness all the time.
Mr. Breitbart famously didn’t report the news but edited tapes to conform to his view of the world. That is not journalism, nor is it a truth, nor even the attempt to find a truth. Why was libel and slander celebrated and repeated by the so called major media?
I think of Mr. Breithbart’s methods as “CrackHEAD news,” in the addicted and killing sense of the drug crack, and therefore he ODd on himself.
What, Johnny B, because some slimy, screaming liars on the Right are imploding or otherwise dying in a short span of time, there’s supposed to be some false equivalence reporting of bad things happening to people on the Left? Or, we’re supposed to say some NICE things about these lying bullies too? I don’t really know what you’re asking for, but there’s PLENTY of analysis right here, and lots more elsewhere online if you want it.
I want to quote woodward burnstein paraphrasing Juan Cole above, because it’s so good: ” ‘Dear Mainstream Media: Andrew Breitbart was not a journalist. He was a political trickster, a serial frame-up artist, a con man, a fraud, and a bully; the perfect representative of the modern conservative media.’ “
Limbaugh just apologized to Ms. Fluke–on his website, which is the cowardly thing to do–for calling her a slut, among other things. And the jerk-off still hs the ignorance to bitch about “the American people” having to support others–presumably Ms. Fluke, among a great many others, including, I’d bet, many of his avid listeners–who engage in “recreational sex.” One must read his entire comment in his bogus apology to truly get the flavor of this sorry loser’s weird hang-ups, childish ignorances, and absolutely thin-skinned cowardice.
My advice to folks sick of this kind of thing is to not let it go. Picket his house, boycott his advertisers, and just generally make his life miserable. And, really, I’m guessing the real reason he sort of apologized is that his latest bride maybe took umbrage. Maybe there’s a glimmer of humanity in the Limbaugh household–it sure ain’t coming from him, though.
I would bet Ndhduz wants a lot of folks dead..Your parents must be proud.
Tim I had to laugh .You finally came out and congratulated Obama for something (his handling of the contraceptive thing).Well Im willing to live with that as the one positive thing he did during his presidency.Start a brew ha ha …..than back down.
Rush…Gotta love him.Sarcastic and funny as hell concerning the foibles of the left. The things that really worry them are a hoot sometimes. But yeah I agree his wife probably said -you went too far dear, now go apologize.I have heard him do it it before she came along. Not unusual. But I heard the show in question, and while he was saying it I was thinking “this young lady could be taking this medication for strictly medical reasons and in fact be a virgin”this may not at all be a young person saying PAY FOR MY ABILITY TO HAVE SEX.He missed that and Ill bet that is part of the apology. As far as picketing and all that.Do it where it matters.Outside the home of the man who has been running this country into a hole for near 3 years. The white house! No you would waste your time yelling at a guy for his opinion.
“Rushâ┚¬Ã‚¦Gotta love him.Sarcastic and funny as hell concerning the foibles of the left. The things that really worry them are a hoot sometimes. But yeah I agree his wife probably said -you went too far dear, now go apologize.”
_________________________________________________________
Yep. It’s so very lovable to call a young lady a name. And then stand behind your vitriol for a few days before backing down. I always thought he was just a fat piece of shit bully, but you sure showed me how I gotta love him.
The ironic thing to me is that if we were living in the time that Rush is all nostalgic for– you know, that idllyic 1950’s that only existed in the minds of Republicans– then Ms. Fluke’s father or brother or boyfriend woulda kicked his ass and left him a fat, sobbing mess. A very vivid lesson in personal responsibility.
“As far as picketing and all that.Do it where it matters.Outside the home of the man who has been running this country into a hole for near 3 years. The white house!”
Obama derangement troll is Obama derangement trolling when the subject is Rush Limbaugh….
@Johnny B
fox business dropped judge napolitano to cut costs..nothing more…they eliminated three primetime shows to air repeats of other programming instead
press release from fox:
“Starting February 20th at 8 PM/ET, viewers will find additional airings of The Willis Report (5PM & 8PM/ET), Cavuto (6PM & 9PM/ET) and Lou Dobbs Tonight (7PM & 10PM/ET). The new lineup will replace FreedomWatch with Judge Andrew Napolitano, Power & Money with David Asman and Follow the Money with Eric Bolling.”
it also stated: “Currently one of the leading judicial analysts on television, Judge Napolitano will continue his role on both FOX Business and FOX News, providing key legal insights surrounding the growing intersection between Washington and Wall Street. “
Carbonite Backup dropped their advertising on Rush’s show last night after his lame apology and did it with a tough statement from their CEO David Friend:
“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”
There was only one reason for Rush’s apology….five advertisers had already dumped him and he wanted to stop the bleeding.
I guess Mr. Friend didn’t find Rush’s hateful comments “sarcastic,” “funny” or a “hoot.”
Limbaugh at home the other nite: “Honey i lie for sex, what does that make me?” wife: “Honey i have sex for money, what does that make me?” “Honey, we lost the Carbonite account” “Rush, rush, you gotta apologize to the girl !!” “That would be lying” “Dah!”,,, “Dah!” “its all good” together: “lets go upstairs now”
Main stream media journalists, subs and editors are self-serving pros. Every work day they drive war and destruction like a drone.
I maybe naive living in a world of material realities, but saddly I continue to be shocked for the U.S.A. and the media’s deliberate contortion here, hoisting the Breitbart’s pheniox of slander. Such flashes are now normal bodily dellusions out of zones of worsening infection; Breitbart is a bad phenomenon otherwise.
I see in the wake of Breitbart’s death so-called journalists, very influential writers with huge outreach, still covering up the extent of this man’s scams and their unresolved damages.
The affair is of course, a sham for the main profitable media association itself, isn’t it?
In both Sherrod and ACORN the government agents in perfect media sync failed to fact-check. Valuable media space devoted to making and maintaining narrative lies is in contrast to the hidden and suppressed subjects who are important but don’t get this kind of ‘state’ ampfilication or action.
What do big industry journalists say to civilian loved-ones, the locals in Iraq, who loose life around them, ability, property and whole neighbourhoods to the acts of a wrongful-armed invasion propelled by an ignorant, lustful foriegn media in the U.S.A?
What do they say to the families and peers of the Reuter’s journalists gunned down in Iraq? “The sacrifice of the lie, The sacrifice of our greed”? No, they say nothing and crouch back to their keyboards, cars, mortage and paychecks.
What do U.S. career writers say to each other between assignments about the journalists and brave sources who brought forward evidence: ‘Collateral Murder’ ?
“Stink in our military jail chaps, the shoot-ups are not in my neighborhood.”
Drone or be droned is not a sustainable way.
Well I heard the show(Rush)thought is was over the top….Heard the apology, and in any real world that would be that.I saw the people he lost as sponsors as an extra kick in the ass for a poor choice of words. Now we could go round and round all day pointing out similar poor choices by people on the left and the right whether it was a serious or comical(attempt).i thought Kieth Obermann one of the nastiest men alive.Made horrific personal attacks daily, and not in any humorous way.But Rush is bigger and held to a much higher standard. He knows the game.Im sure he was not blind sided by this.My guess is he knew he screwed up by end of show. Now we can spend a week taking Romni ,Obama,Iran, and all the rest out of the news to decide if Rush handed out his apology quickly enough or if his wife made him do it…blah blah blah.Rush goes on three hours a day five days a week off the cuff. Obama tries to talk once in a while off a telaprompter with a prepared speech and tries his best not to sound stupid.Priorities firmly in place my little libs.
Obama derangement troll is still Obama derangement trolling even though the subject is still Rush Limbaugh.
rush keeps digging
tpm reports:
Rush Limbaugh opened his radio show today with a long explanation for why he issued his rare public apology to Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student he called “a slut” on air. Limbaugh said his apology was “sincere,” but said his biggest failing was adopting the tone of the left.
“This is the mistake I made,” he said. “In fighting them on this issue last week, I became like them.”
He also said “Against my own instincts, against my own knowledge, against everything that I know to be right and wrong, I descended to their level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke. That was my error.”
oh yes, the old “the liberals made me to it” defense. the republicans war on woman is all the fault of those coastal elites and their feminazi fellow-travellers
the only thing more indefensible that this con artist are those who continued to defend him as some sort of entertainer just being funny.
Rush Limbaugh apparently believes that women have to take a pill every time they have sex, and that can run into big money for some women, especially those who go to law school. He thinks that because he has to take a pill every time he has sex, and illegal drugs sometimes cost a lot. Fortunately he has marketable skills, like impersonating a pig. I was going to say “like being an asshole”, but assholes are an essential part of the body. Maybe a pig’s asshole.
Your readers might be interested in dipping into my Andrew Breitbart Memorial Webpage, the Breitbart Brickbat, at http://www.CityofArt.net/breitbart_brickbat.html It’s a way of working out my feelings in a somewhat more scholarly context and separating some of the personal animus I naturally feel for the man, from my legitimate fears for the future coming out of what he did in his life.
Greg hysterical input.Rush says he let himself act like a lib by sounding personal and you one up him by……..acting like a lib and being far worse.Get your apology out.Or wait Libs never apologize do they?Truly timely and funny.
PeaceBrother Your nemesis is dead. His days of hurting the left are over.I read your blog and I get it.You didnt like the man. What is the point? What future fears?
Boy, that Brietbart really hurt the left, no? Whew! Thanks for that, Greg. As I said above, Limbaugh’s fraudulent apology was backed up by the lies essential to the whole mess–he comes off as a petulant five year old who doesn’t understand a goddamn thing about the most basic stuff in adult life. He’s not always pretending so he can put it over on rubes and hicks and dopes like the average troll who comes in here to actually defend him.
Tim let me help you.TURN…….THE………..DIAL!No one forces you to listen pal.Aint freedom of speech grand?
Rush is a hoot.Three hours a day …five days a week he kicks liberal balls about the room.Uncovering the insanity.Hey one of those balls caught a garage window.Window is fixed. We will live.So will she.Moving on.Ya big old cry babies.Weep weep weep
Man do i know these people or what.Always said Obama would foster his army of activists to bring on discord so he could avoid his record. Its always the same with you lot.The great pee party revolt should be ramping up again soon. And now this young lady with Rush.Seems she aint all that young, and is not the weeping little innocent she pertains to be.Obama starts this whole thing by trampling Religious rights under foot. Then he and his aids scramble to save us all. What an absolute joke. Then this woman who is a 30 YEAR OLD professional activist… steps forward with the same template.Save us save us.Only the government can do it.I must say Obama does use this community activist rot to his political advantage.Smart move my dir shmere of Chicago politics. But really is this all he has?Tell everyone the sky is falling because of some booger man, and only he with the full weight of the government can save us?Create one dirt storm after another, then step in as if he is the great healer?Activist of the world unite.Create panic then ask the President to step in.You must see this right? This election is turning the same way the last did.The game is to nail this jello to a tree. His record people….his record.Keep saying it.You were right to judge Bush on his.You must do the same with Lord BAM.
Obama derangement troll continues his Obama derangement trolling even though the subject continues to be Rush Limbaugh.
You wanna waste time ignoring the real stories by talking about Rush Limbaugh? You think Rush is a jerk cause he was being sarcastic and insulted a professional agitator?Well I hope you don’t waste this amount of time saying the same about Bill( from mars) who does it every day.Because that too is a waste of time. We all must home in on one thing.Has Obamas record given any reason to re hire him?Don’t anyone right or left let yourself be smoke screened away from that discussion.
“a professional agitator?”

Way to blame the victim there, michael e.
Also, running the Gingrich playbook I see: Talking about Limbaugh is a waste of time and I blame the liberal media for it. Well, when the arguable leader of the Republican Party puts his foot in his mouth and reveals himself as a hateful bully and terrible human being– although that’s been his stock and trade for years now, he’s just finally getting called out on it– I find that newsworthy. Furthermore, I find the reactions of the Replubican candidates also newsworthy: how are they to distance themselves from the horrible little dickweed without offending the legions of dittoheads he can summon forth?
You think it’s a waste of time, but yet here you are commenting about it repeatedly and offering explanations for the guy, huh? Interesting…
This has nothing to do with Rush but something more important. It is about the left trying to silence people. You can’t hurt Rush.He is a 400 million dollar contractually bound man who is literally untouchable. You want to hurt his listeners.People who want information from all sides.Name me a time conservatives said attack anyones advertisers.Does not happen. We don’t want to silence anyone.I loved Kieth Oibermann and Janeane Garofalo.Let em talk was always my motto.i was sad as hell they went away. My God even the afore mentioned Bill Maher’s today said enough….stop the overkill. This is about seeing an opening to attack in a personal way someone you hate who you view as hurting the lefts agenda. This is about being a lib.And as far as him being a leader of the Republican party,he has zero control over your taxes.Sending your boys off to war or anything else.He is a man with an opinion in a land that allows everyone to have one. That might not agree with the liberal mindset but your gonna have to learn to live with it.
@michael e: So first it was about Rush being a hoot. Then it was about Ms. Fluke being a professional agitator and/or otherwise undeserving of any sympathy. Then it was about the time-wasting that the media is engaged in. Now it’s about freedom of speech.
What’s it gonna be about tomorrow?
Seems to me this episode is “about” whatever, in your judgment, best deflects criticism. How very convenient.
John truly its gonna be about a lot of things.Everyday the left beats this dead horse with a stick while the president and the world affairs is not the top story- the hypocrisy grows exponentially.Rush had a good show today where he barely spoke about this.He has moved on.We have moved on.We know Bill Maher can say this stuff all day long about conservative woman and everybody applauds. No apologies. There is a very different standard that conservatives are held to.We accept that.We get it.But at what point do you guys stop buzzing in everybody’s ear like annoying insects your latest affront? My God I turned on a show this evening where Rush was actually becoming a sympathetic figure in all this do to the ridiculous overkill.Get over it my weeping libs.Rush has been called every name in the book this week(no apologies). He put himself out there, and thats part of the game.Water off a ducks back. Now this 30 year old professional agitator also put herself out there.Tough noogies she got called a name boo hoo hoo(and yes an apology).I wish you had one- one hundreth the empathy for Sarah Palins CHILDREN.But again the standard is soooo different.Go find me one attack by the right on Obamas daughters.Moving on…..
@michael e: So it’s about a lot of things, huh? What bugs me is that it’s about whatever suits your needs on whatever day. You might have been somewhat believable had you said all these things from the get go. Now, it just seems like you’ve got no coherent argument and you gotta keep shifting it.
Yeah, Bill Maher called Palin a name. So two wrongs make a right, do they? Furthermore, Maher called Palin a name– at least he took a shot at someone in power. Limbaugh had to pick on a powerless law student. Gee, that sure took guts.
I found your right wing attack on Malia Obama: Glenn Beck made fun of her on his radio show, insinuating she was uneducated and stupid.
I’d note that the right has a long history of calling for consumer boycotts…there’s nothing unfair or unusual about using that tactic…For example, The One Million Moms just recently called for people to quit shopping at JC Penney and Toys R Us.
The Beck incident happened on May 28th 2010. He issued an apology…in a far better manner than Rushbo did.
Wonkette attacked Trig Palin in April 2011 which triggered advertisers to pull their stuff off the site. The author of the post apologized and the item was removed.
And, no sooner had Limbaugh issued his non-apology to Ms. Fluke, this week he then attacked woman author tracie mcmillan, asking his listeners “â┚¬Ã…“What is it with all of these young single white women, overeducated â┚¬” doesn’t mean intelligent.”
â┚¬Ã…“You cannot be objective when it comes to right and wrong. And Israel is the right. So, I’m a biased journalist, and I’m having a great time doing that,â┚¬Ã‚ Andrew Breitbart speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition event in 2001.
On March 1, the Jewish daily Forward in its editorial proclaimed Andrew Breitbart â┚¬Ã…“A Proud Jewâ┚¬Ã‚Â.
Andrew Breitbart, Republican Jewish media moghul from Los Angelese, collapsed and died while walking near his Westwood home. He was 43. His family and his Jewish lawyer said that Andrew died of natural cause. However, according to the Daily Mail Reporter (March 3, 2012), many Zionist bloggers believe Andrew Breitbart was killed on president Obama’s orders……
