The emerging storyline after the Republican presidential debate this week was that far-right Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is for real, mostly because she managed to sound, well, a little less crazy than she’s sounded before. (No, they didn’t quite put it like that.)
There are stories about Bachmann’s new Bach-mentum in the New York Times (6/15/11), the Washington Post (6/14/11) and USA Today (6/15/11).
Let’s take the Times‘ lead:
The key question for Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota before the Republican debate on Monday night was whether she could appeal to voters beyond the Tea Party wing that she helped to create, while avoiding the gaffes that have sometimes emerged from her strident, passionate persona.
By most accounts, she did just that. Ms. Bachmann toned her rhetoric down a bit and offered herself as a competent, knowledgeable insider who would nonetheless carry on the fight against big government with the zeal of a Tea Party activist.
She’s hired veteran GOP strategists, the Times‘ Michael Shear notes:
Those moves suggest that Ms. Bachmann, who is often mocked by late-night comedians and liberal cable hosts as a nutty right-winger, wants to dispel that caricature as she pursues the nomination.
Well OK. Then turn to the Times editorial about the debates, where you read this:
Michele Bachmann had the strangest, most simplistic economic solution of all: simply close down the Environmental Protection Agency, which she said “should really be renamed the Job-Killing Organization of America.”
I guess if I was writing a piece about how Bachmann toned down the crazy in this debate, I’d leave out that quote too. It kind of makes it sound like she didn’t.

This debate was a treasure-trove of idiotic positions. Mitt Romney announced his opposition to government big enough to help you out after a tornado destroys your home. Seriously, he did! I have no idea why that clip isn’t circulating on every news channel.
http://jasonbeets.blogspot.com/2011/06/cnn-presidential-debate.html
Santorum says that Obama has put up a stop sign again on offshore oil drilling. Too bad no one told him the moratorium ended last October. Bachman revived the Job-Killing Obamacare zombie lie that won’t die no matter how many organizations discredit it.

It is becoming more and more obvious that the main stream media is propping up these corrupt fools. Deep dish or thin crust? LOL!
The main stream media is corporate owned and most of them are very conservative. So the continuing joke that the CMMM is “liberal” continues to get more ridiculous yet propagated so hard it is still accepted automatically.
I like to say the mrs Bachmann looks a hell of a lot less crazy than the left has tried to paint her. Imagine that.If for a moment you would stop painting all conservatives as less than human- you may be able to have a dialog.Notice Mrs B has rhetoric while Obama has????What Bullshit?Notice mrs b is crazy but Nancy p is what……?A flipping loon?Notice she has hired a strategist to escape late night caricatures while Obama has a slew of them for….?Proving how a guy who is always wrong is somehow smart? And i loved the quote pulled out of all context. Remember obama saying his grandmother was a typical white woman?Kinda proves he is a racist huh?How about Romni /Bachmann?Sounds at least a million times better than this dumb as nails rabble.Every person up there made our currant boy man president look stupid.Christ what a dream cabinet.Bring in Ron Paul…Sarah…..Christie.Man this country would recover like a Rocket. And all the liberal canards would crumble into dust. One can only hope.
Sounds like Herbert Hoover’s dream cabinet, michael e. It would produce the same result he got.
You would think that after 30 years of the Gospel of Trickle Down theory and the current results, that no sane person could still believe that BS.
But someone has to be stupid enough to join a party called Tea Batters.
As long as this “who’s dumber than who ” nonsense persists those engaged in such masturbation will not be thinking about why New York State has the nickname that it does and how that is related to the current – BOGUS – crisis every single State finds itself in, among so many other things
While calling Sarah Palin “dumber than a bag of hammers” (which she is) might make me feel good briefly (which it does), it does nothing to help us understand the depth of the crises we are now facing, nor does it help us to understand what we as citizens need to do about it. I’m sure Michael E (above) would like race (meaning Negroes) to go away but they won’t and unless we’re into mass murder we need to work on solutions to hman problems
I have a different take on the corporate media burying the, uh, eccentricities of Bachmann for now: Her gain as the media do this is Romney’s and Pawlenty’s and Huntsman’s loss during the talibangelical and Tea Bagger primaries. The ideal, of course, would be for Bachmann to defeat all the minimally serious individuals running to become the Republican nominee, but that’s pretty far fetched. After all, this is a woman who won’t even say whether the earth is older than 10000 years, who holds that gays and lesbians and bi sexuals can change their sexual orientations, that she herself is not a homophobe, that a lesbian member of her family has a good relationship with her, and that MA and NH are evidently interchangeable in the minds of those who have an dilettante’s obsession with the Founders. Then there’s her views on God’s plan for women who become pregnant as a result of rape or incest. (Hint: God’s plan does not involve abortion.)
She hasn’t even had a real chance to take her best Palin-like swing at a foreign policy gotcha question yet, which I am looking forward to immensely.
Any media soft-balling of Bachmann for now is doing civilization a great favor. There is much about the mainstream media to be negative about. This is not in that category.
Well david m called me a racist, and mass murderer(where the hell does that come from?)And pointed to New york.Ah New york the Lib capital of the world.Where anyone who has any coin(and sense)gets the hell out.The they wonder why the tax base is dropping….lunacy.
Uneasy one is pointing to some vague fear mongering(Hoobert served a long time. What result are you speaking of?)
And david w is pointing to Reagonomics and trickle down being a failure when set against socialism?”Well there you go again”
By the time Reagan left office the stock market had tripled in value and then tripled again over the next ten years.American wealth had increased by 15 trillion;every income quintile during the Reagan years had gained income.;and by 1989 there were 6 million more Americans whose salaries exceeded 50 thou a year while the number of Americans earning less than 10 k fell by 3.4 million workers. He gained back the 10 million jobs Carter lost, producing 20 million. Inflation crashed down.Gas crises ended.GNP up like a rocket. All this with sustained Dem spending at massive levels.Yeah horrible times those.30 years of economic revival.
Now for Bachman.Crazy ideas about abortion.Misquoted to be sure- but even I do not care for some of her ideas. Then again Obama led the panel that was basically abortion unlimited. Unmoved by nurses testimony on late term.So do we ere on the side of life or death? Her religious beliefs you think point to her critical thinking.Yet you don’t think Obama spending 25 years under the tutelage of a racist separatist bastard means anything? And of course she is a homophobe. As long as you say so.In the end we all know that those three issues wont change a bit due to a presidents personal bias.Obamas lip service or Santorums push to end abortion wont amount to a hill of beans.America has spoken so stop wasting our time with that.
As far as Palin id stack her against our current Vp any day and twice on tuesday in any debate.(Whatever weakness she showed in the past is pretty well gone)I think she would falay our current President as would Bachmann. It would be a beat down. Those two lovelies would beat the washington Stink off him.Look you simply have to realize a few truths.Sarah was a governor of Alaska. Her clearance was tied to NORAD and the defense line of our former(sic)enemies. Her national gauard arguably the most important in the country. She ran rough shod over some of the toughest hombre’s in the Alaskan mans world. She goddam straight cleaned house of the muck. She guided this countries main oil supplies to new heights. Her popularity in Alaska was massive. If not for being hamstrung and forced into an uncomfortable box by that dufus mcCain …..she would be today “thee “success story for our young woman. That and the liberal full court attack to paint her this way and that are 99% of her negatives. So please call her stupid at you own risk.Obama after all is your man.Pelosi was your trustfund babe.I still cant find anything to point to any qualification other than a very slick well run campain for Obama.Even your Vp during the run called him a what?…….”clean black man who can speak well”How absolutely insulting.Point was he could not think of any other qualification.
So again lets get to policy. Not personal attacks or on freedom of Religious beliefs.Me personally …all joking aside ,I would love to see Christie run.Vp Romni. But it is what it is
Her statement about Obama throwing allies (Israel) under the bus was as blatant an appeal for some Jewish money and support from so-called Christian -Zionists as it gets.
It reflects a low degree of misunderstanding of the Middle East situation, leaving her totally unqualified for the presidency.
Cut off aid and impose sanctions if they don’t obey SC242 which we signed . Treat them no better, no worse than any other nation.
With friends like Likud led Israel, who needs enemies?
“Reagan gained back the 10 million jobs Carter lost, producing 20 million. ”
Wrong again. Carter CREATED 10 million jobs in four years, Reagan created 16 million in eight.

“every income quintile during the Reagan years had gained income.”
Wrong again: Everyone’s slice of the pie grew smaller in the 80s except the top 20 percent, which grew. And the top 1 percent was responsible for most of the top quintile’s growth, as the last line shows.

Micheal e, you forgot to put in your Reagan idolization rant about his single handedly saving the world from communism…you’re slipping. The king of deficit spending will be rolling in his grave without it.
As for the non- Presidential candidate that showed up at a debate for Presidential Candidates and where the oh-so-liberal CNN graciously allowed her to make her Presidential announcement and tell us how she would bust up big gov after her family got rich first on gov subsidies, who cares. She is a mouthpiece for the Kochs and nothing more. It does appear she had some new classes of how to sling the BS in the last little while. When Koch and his gang run all schools maybe we all will be getting those kind of lessons. Professor Micheal, do you have your resume ready?
“30 years of economic revival.”
Gotta love that Ronnie, who left office in 1989, gets credit for the whole 30 years since….except for 2008, when Reagonomics came home to roost and almost took the entire world economy with it….
Palin’s disapproval numbers among Republicans is between 20% and 25%, her disapproval numbers in Alaska are over 50%.
—————
Nationally, she’s done. “In a May 2011 national poll from Quinnipiac University 58 percent of respondents said they would never vote for Palin and only 15 percent said they would enthusiastically vote for her.

And, as from crazylady Bachmann, Michele couldn’t win her own state â┚¬” her high-water mark in her GOP-friendly house district was 53 percent, registered during the Republican landslide year of 2010.
“Ah New york …where anyone who has any coin(and sense)gets the hell out…”
Robert Frank of the Wall Street Journal “The number of millionaires in New York actually increased in 2010….It is possible rich people are leaving New York because of high taxes. But there is little or no supporting evidence.”
In addition, a study showed that a “millionaires’ tax” in New Jersey didn’t make the rich leave….

â┚¬Ã…“Gay marriage is probably the biggest issue that will impact our state and our nation in the last, at least thirty years. I am not understating that.â┚¬Ã‚ Ãƒ¢Ã¢”𬓠Michele Bachmann
â┚¬Ã…“Normalization of gayness through desensitization. Bachmann is crazy as a loon – the Minnesota state bird!
Bs
I cant track a fact you stated that holds any water in my eyes, though I know where you came by them(shame shame). You are i think saying the Carter presidency was a win win, and Reagan a big loss.Wow what can one say to that?It is such a fudged view of economic history that really Im stunned. And Didn’t we argue this during those elections? And Reagan did how?And you are gonna stick to that argument that the rich are still living in New york ,as if massive tax hikes are invisible to their weak brains? And still singing that same old song I have been hearing since Sarah ran for mayor all those years ago that she is gonna disappear from the public eye in a week or two as soon as her 15 minutes of fame is over.Yeah good luck with that.Ever go anywhere she lands? It is a mob scene always and everywhere. And she is not even being fronted by a billion dollars by ever corp entity going.Look the Republican woman are dynamic, successful, purpose driven people.Except it and argue policy.Your rant on Bachmann’s “woman issues”is fair(though everything you stated shows no context.)As was my pointing out Obama is the abortion president if ever their was one.No middle ground at all.Always wonder which daughter he and michelle would of aborted in retrospect if they had not the money to support two girls. And what type of method he would favor.Saline burn…vacume hose….spike in the skull…Ooh Im sorry do I speak of things that should not be spoken of………just done?My my I am sorry. As I say Michelle pushing your face in it may tick you off but really what can she do about it.The legislation is not there and never will be.And if America changes its view than ,and only than will anything change.
This whole election comes down to a few things.Jobs….gas prices….inflation….pain index.Do you want 4 more years of Obama style success? If the answer is yes he is doing a great job ,and we are doing great, than no-one can beat a standing prez who raises a billion dollars. If not………Gumby could beat him.And blaming Bush again and again sounds silly even to hard core dumbacrats. It is Obamas world and it is caving in on all fronts.Your side promised that this massive cash dump that has added to our debt to the tune of thirteen trillion would spur everything. We said you were full of it.You rolled the dice and lost. You had it all.House …. presidency… more than damn near any other leader. You shot your load and never even registered on any scale. Now really it is time to sit down.No more cash dumps. No more massive unfunded social programs. The next batter has to step up.Who that is Im not sure. But this mess has run it’s course.Obama the rock star is just Nero fiddling away.
LA Bob
If you are saying the incoming Rep leadership will stop throwing Israel under the bus while siding with enemies of this country…I sure as hell hope so.
Carol…..Reagan in his memoirs stated his greatest failure was not being able to stop massive Dem def spending during his leadership. He also saw that mistake(as you do).I too see it as his biggest failure.
Newt did a great job with Clinton.Really rode herd on him to all our benefit.
To fix this country there is only one way.Make this land as hospitable to business as we can.In every way shape and form.Anything that puts pressure on investment is death. We must re create wealth.
Ps why does fair not have any story on the Palin E mails? And when will we see Pelosis during the healthcare debate. And Obamas?
Oh, it was Congress that caused the deficit problem and not Reagan. Just reading a brief bio of our boy that said congress approved many of HIS (that would be our boy in the white house in the prosperous 80’s) proposals which succeeded in lowing inflation but doubled the debt by 1986. It also said he advocated for lower taxes & high defense spending. To me that = deficit. Also congress was republican in the senate and dem in the house so let me see….. that means the dems are to blame right, Micheal. Well today the house is repub , but of course they bear no responsibility for this travesty you now see happening. It is all that rascally President’s fault. You are too transparent, Micheal. And just as you “see” where B.S. D’Tektor got his facts, we all know where your delusions came from, the TP movement, gun barrel patriots in racist tee shirts.
“I cant track a fact you stated that holds any water in my eyes, though I know where you came by them(shame shame).’
Uh, the facts came from the Wall Street Journal, newspapers from Phoenix AZ, and Trenton NJ and general government data. [The blue letters in all my comments show the sources. It’s not like I’m trying to keep them a secret.]
Can you show evidence that any of them are incorrect?
Your assertion that Obama had added $13 trillion to the debt is utter nonsense.
“You are i think saying the Carter presidency was a win win, and Reagan a big loss.”
No, all i was saying was that your claim that Carter lost 10 million jobs, got it backwards…10 million jobs were created during his four years.
Jobs at start of term: 80.4 million …Jobs at end of term: 90.9 million
“And you are gonna stick to that argument that the rich are still living in New york ,as if massive tax hikes are invisible to their weak brains?’
Well since the number of millionaires in NYC and northern NJ are increasing and since at least 10 of the richest zipcodes in the country are in the NYC metro area….You bet’cha!
“Ever go anywhere she (Palin) lands? It is a mob scene always and everywhere.”
Well that’s part of the 15% who would still vote for her. So?
“It is Obamas world and it is caving in on all fronts.”
Job creation is up, unemployment is down in 43 of the 50 states, Wall Street is up, corporate profits are up….
Unemployment information from the Wall Street Journal:
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2011/06/17/jobless-rate-significantly-lower-in-25-states/
We all know where your delusions came from, the TP movement, talk radio, FakeNoise, Heritage, etc….
I recently watched Rep. Michele Bachmann in a televised interview just prior to the GOP debate. She was responding to comments made by President Obama concerning Israel and the need to return to 1967 borders. For once, she made perfect sense and came off as both intelligent, rational and extremely knowledgeable. The day when Michele Bachmann starts making sense is the time to start getting really concerned. This is the same woman who blamed FDR for starting the Great Depression. People need to wake up and realize that the Tea Party’s positions are extremely harmful to the well being and future of this country. If by some bizarre twist of nature this woman is ever elected to the nation’s highest office, I would seriously consider leaving this country for a very long time!
Matthew FDR did not start the great depression. He lengthened it with his new deal…. sorry. And as far as the Tea party positions they are simple.Follow the constitution .Period.If that is harmful to a segment of this country we know who that segment is.Those who mean to step over the words. If you believe it to be so wrong it may be time to leave.
Bs you are fudging numbers all over the place.Only two things you were wrong about even caught my eye.The rest is just lib spin and claptrap, and smokescreens..And not all that good.I have heard real liers do much better.
1) job creation is up,unemployment is down in 43 out of 50 states?????)by the way the article sighted does not discount gov jobs)? They most def are up.Im going to leave you an assignment today.Study how well we are doing in the job creation dept, and in unemployment numbers.Just that. Then send me all your lemons and gumdrops. And remember to take me out to dinner. Before someone bleeps me -I like to be wined and dined. At best we are stagnant AFTER SPENDING TRILLIONS!Do the math.We could of given every man woman and child a huge hunk of change.Instead…all down a rat hole.My God man even your own president is not trying to fly that kite. And you are backing you beliefs on labor dept. records notoriously wrong especially during Reagan. And remember the whole argument is ridiculous in that presidents don’t create any jobs.If you are trying to say tax a rich man at lets say 90%- and it will not effect his actions one wit(and in essence you are saying that)im at a loss.It will effect where he lives.Where he does business. How he invests. You can only drain the golden goose so much of blood before he kicks. The only question Dems ever need answer is how much do you believe you can take before “it” kicks. This is a specious, and silly argument.Redistribution of wealth can only be couched and hidden and rephrased so far.The real problem you have with right wing mouthpieces is they uncover the shellgame daily.
Carol…..The republican house has put the breaks on spending everywhere.Tea party people most of all.How can i blame them for the coming nightmare of obama care ,or things of this regime.?Reagan did himself spend in a deficit fashion. We could argue all day wether it was a good business decision at that time.A secured loan. Certainly not comparable to today were nothing is secure and China our banker.
Again Carol always the same question. If we raise corp taxes..gateway taxes…income taxes….taxes taxes taxes will it spur the economy?Or simply entrust our government to be the stewards of our wealth over private ownership?
Oh Bs the other thing. Never said all 13 trillion was Bam. Though he spent more in months than all the presidents from Washington on to little effect. As a job creator he is probably the worst. Though as i said he does not really create any jobs. That is a Dem illusion. See we have done spent the cooky jar. Keynesian economics was given all the monopoly money to play with, had the game rigged, and still nothing went your way. I do believe that by concentrating on the recreation of wealth and personal freedoms and the limiting of big government’s influence in our daily lives, we will do better for all the people.
” whether it was a good business decision”, good grief…. Reagan does an oopsy, but Obama brings the country to ruination….sure Michael. Good night sir, hope all your nightmares come true, especially the one where people stop losing everything they got to medical expenses. I was not for this plan but it is way closer then wild wild west capitalistic insurance companies where they throw grandma off a cliff. I know people close to that reality so don’t even try your ridiculous rhetorical nonsense with that one.
Dr. Lawrence H. Peter stated a person will raise to their level of incompetence, and it appears Bachmann and Palin have done just that.
Ron Reagan wasn’t much of a president, but his acting skills made it appear otherwise. His handling of the employment problem was all smoke and mirrors, as his administration simply added the Armed Force numbers to the labor numbers, which changed nothing. Anybody doing an employment study can not work across that timeframe, as the data are so hideously corrupted.
Our 2nd amendment was created so we wouldn’t need a standing military force and the people would rally to defend the nation against a foreign invasion, but that has gone to bloody hell, as any nutcase can obtain a gun with a large magazine and go around shooting up anybody with whom they disagree. These are the ones who support Palin and Bachmann. If either of these two make on the ballot, be afraid. Be very afraid!
Skthawk your military expectations of this country are fiction. And the 2nd was created so people could protect themselves against there OWN government as well.
Again you are pulling the old lib trick of fear mongering with Palin and Backmann.
Carol….i really think you are well meaning.I hope you know i am.What you call wild west is simply market forces that would drive prices down through competition. When lasik eye came out only a few Drs did this at great expense. There was a decision to refuse insurance to keep prices down.Libs screamed it hurt the poor.Soon tons of Drs did it, and the price war drove the cost down and down and down.
In my area there are 17 main insurance carriers that are allowed to do business.Yet there are over 4000 in the country!
This plan of Obamas is a lie.Even preliminary studies show it will cost much more than stated(the numbers are in tune with what the republicans warned about though much higher)It will give less coverage.Create a government rationing system.Hurt Doctors(though not at first) and cause a downturn in the field. It cannot be paid for.Hurts business.(except Nancy ps district that gets 20% of all the wavers in the entire frigging country)Will put private insurance out of business. Is unconstitutional.
Medical field is the only field(business) that holds no reality to the “customers”ability to pay. This is due to the open pocket insurance mentality. It asks no reality of medicine. Can you imagine when that open pocket is the Us government?Paid for by whom? The rich?haha what a sick warped joke.Look many things can be done. And done incramentaly. And MUST be done including tort law reform.Obama has done one good thing in bringing this forward now.His ideology destroyed his plan before it got off the ground. He jammed it down everyones throats, lying cheating and bullying legislators along the way.And yes I do demand He and nancy ps e mails during that period.Hope you get behind me on that now that Sarah has led the way due to your sides demands.
Reagan……..Yes his congress spent in a massive way but he spent in a deficit manner also(Im still against it), knowing he was creating huge wealth.I take out a loan to grow my business knowing it will create profit.I do not think we deficit spend today in that mindset.Today we borrow from Peter to pay paul to keep our heads above water just a little longer. We can never pay back our loans. We are going to drown.Even Obama channels Reagan on occasion. He does not even try to compare then with now.See It is not wrong to say they were wonderful economic times for this country though some things- not so much.It is wrong to paint it as you do.Or to say Carter was not a disaster. He was.Not completey of course. And other than some strange anti semetic statements i always thought him a good man.But the dichotomy of the explosive economy the minute Reagan took the reins while lowering taxes is pretty stark.Money flowed into the coffers. There is simply no denying that.We need that today. We can not tax our way clear of this.
Bach-mentum? Bach-mentum? Forgive the cynicism, but wouldn’t it be more appropriate to say, ‘Bachanderthal?’ Ex: ‘Bachanderthal won’t debate high schoolers.’
“1) job creation is up,unemployment is down in 43 out of 50 states?????)by the way the article sighted does not discount gov jobs)? They most def are up.”
Wrong again. (Data from the BLS household survey.) Private sector jobs are continuing to increase while public sector jobs are declining.
In May alone, there was a decrease of 417,000 government jobs, following losses of 132,000 in April and 75,000 in March, totaling 549,000 for the last three months, and that’s really the main source of labor market weakness – it’s mostly in the public sector, not the private sector.
Based on the household measure of private sector employment, there was a 373,000 job increase in May, following a 11,000 decrease in April and 370,000 increase in March. In comparison, private payroll jobs increased by only 83,000 in May, following increases of 251,000 in April and 219,000 in March.
http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2011/06/private-sector-continues-to-add-jobs.html
“If you are trying to say tax a rich man at lets say 90%- and it will not effect his actions one wit(and in essence you are saying that)im at a loss”
I’m not saying any such thing…I am saying that there is no evidence that people are leaving NYC because of high taxes and since nobody is suggesting taxing people at 90%. I’m not “in essence,” saying that either. Another study done in 2007 tracked population movement after both NYC and New York state added a “millionaires tax” to help cover the costs of 9/11. It found that, while people from all income groups left the city, the group least liklely to leave was those making over $250k.
“Bs you are fudging numbers all over the place.Only two things you were wrong about even caught my eye.The rest is just lib spin and claptrap, and smokescreens..And not all that good.I have heard real liers do much better.”
Since you can’t cite a single fact i’ve gotten wrong, it’s obvious you can’t.
This statement is also false:” Obama spent more in months than all the presidents from Washington on.”
“The republican house has put the breaks on spending everywhere.”
Wrong again: Remember the House bill that claimed to cut $38 billion in spending? The Congressional Budget Office offered this total buzzkill: the budget cuts were really only worth $352 million.
More conservative observers pegged the total savings as somewhat higher: $12 billion.
“But the dichotomy of the explosive economy the minute Reagan took the reins while lowering taxes is pretty stark.”
Unemployment spiked to 10.8% after the first Reagan tax cut and the government went deeper into debt. Reagan had to raise taxes just a year later. Despite ten more tax hikes on everything from gasoline to corporate income, Reagan was never able to get the deficit under controlâ┚¬Ã‚¦.
“Oh Bs the other thing. Never said all 13 trillion was Bam.”
Sure you did: June 18th, 2011 at 11:39 am “Your side promised that this massive cash dump that has added to our debt to the tune of thirteen trillion would spur everything.”
“[Health Care Act] is unconstitutional”
Harvard Law professor Charles Fried, solicitor general under President Ronald Reagan, believes the constitutional argument against ObamaCare is so weak that even the Roberts court will reject it.
Plus three judges have ruled for the individual mandate and two judges have ruled against it. ACA’s individual mandate was held to be constitutional in cases in the Eastern District of Michigan, the Western District of Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Texas tried medical tort reform.
Outcome: failure…
â┚¬Ã‚¢ The cost of health insurance in the state has more than doubled;
â┚¬Ã‚¢ The cost of health care in Texas (measured by per patient Medicare reimbursements) has increased at nearly double the national average; and
â┚¬Ã‚¢ Spending increases for diagnostic testing (measured by per patient Medicare reimbursements) have far exceeded the national average.
Who’s benefited the most from tort reform? Doctors whose premiums have fallen (slightly) and who avoid being sued over even the most egregious of malpractice, and insurance companies.
Defenders of the Texas law claim it has prompted a massive influx of new doctors into the state, especially in underserved rural areas. But this, too, is false, according to state data.
The growth in the number of doctors per capita in Texas has slowed since the liability law took effect. Meanwhile, the number of doctors per capita in underserved rural areas has decreased since 2003. However, The number of doctors disciplined in Texas has gone up.
http://threewisemenblog.com/2009/12/19/texas-tort-reform-failure/
In 2009, citing recent studies, the CBO concluded that limiting malpractice liability would reduce total national health care spending by about one-half of 1 percent.
Matthew Cloner is correct. Bachmann did blame FDR for causing the depression.
In late April 2009, Bachmann spoke on the House floor and paid tribute to the economic policies of Calvin Coolidge and the “Roaring 20s.” One particular line really does stand out, though — saying Franklin Roosevelt turned a recession into a depression through the “Hoot-Smalley” tariffs.
Here’s what really happened: When Franklin Roosevelt took office, unemployment was already about 25%. And the tariff referred to here was actually the Smoot-Hawley bill, co-authored by Republicans Sen. Reed Smoot of Utah and Rep. Willis Hawley of Oregon, and signed into law by President Herbert Hoover.

That the imbecile Bachmann is taken seriously at all is testament to our lazy, sycophantic press. Don’t worry, sensible citizens, and do worry, Tea-Baggers: Backhmann literally can’t help herself. No matter what, sooner or later some meanie in the Corporate press is going to discover the tiny, real, journalist’s voice buried deep, deep within and ask a question that will hit Bachmann’s over-load button.
Really, think about it: this is the best the Republicans can do! Bachmann, Pawlenty (he actually refers to himself as “T-paw”), Santorum (he’s got a Google problem!) et. al. The one candidate they do have that has a shot, Romney, is considered to be just to the right of Bernie Sanders by the faithful (and I do mean faithful). Like corrective_unconscious above, I look forward to more of Bachmann’s wisdom on everything to “the gays” to God’s plan for all of us.
P.S.: Now, Carol, you know what our Troll is about: you have about as much chance of dissuading him from lying as you do fissioning a uranium atom with a butter knife. Any other posters here, same goes for you. He does perfectly illustrate the “thinking” of the average Bagger, doesn’t he? Sort of a Palin or Bachmann without the fat bottom line. Just more furious lying, a raging in favor, always, of defending the indefensible and trying to make the insane seem normal. It’s funny how Rightists and dumbell Baggers constantly reveal the very stupidity the press allegedly pins on them, and then howl with pain and resentment when anybody uses their own words and deeds to skewer them. Fuckin’ losers and crybabies.
P.P.S.: What is it with these assholes like Bachmann and Santorum and homosexuality? There’s a nasty rumor about Bachmann’s old man going around (he’s closeted), and we all know about Santorum’s crazy (obsessively so) notions about bestiality and man-on-man-on-dog-on-rodent sex. I say, let’s wait and see, with great anticipation, what comes tumblin’ out of certain right-wing closets next. So to speak.
Thanks for the laughs, TimN!! You are so right — er, correct! :o)
@TimN
Marcus Bachmann is a practicing Christian therapist and is of the school of thought that conversion therapy works on gays and lesbians if they have a willingness “to be cured.”
In November 2005, Marcus Bachmann delivered a presentation called â┚¬Ã…“The Truth About the Homosexual Agendaâ┚¬Ã‚ at the Minnesota Pastors’ Summit. According to a gay activist who attended and spoke to City Pages, Bachmann’s presentation ended with testimony from three people who claimed they’d been gay and had been â┚¬Ã…“curedâ┚¬Ã‚ and become straight. But Bachmann has denied that he works to turn gay patients straight.
â┚¬Ã…“Barbarians need to be educated, they need to be disciplined, and just because someone feels it or thinks it, doesn’t mean we need to go down that road,â┚¬Ã‚ he said while discussing homosexuality during the radio interview. â┚¬Ã…“We have a responsibility as parents and authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings.â┚¬Ã‚Â

Michael e is a perfect example of the lack of reason and real thought (not to mention grammar) of what appears to be the majority of tea baggers and Republicans in general. I encounter people like him all the time — in person and in the media. There is no there there.
I posted this elsewhere here, but it’s worth repeating – good assessment of the tea party:
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/matt-taibbi-on-the-tea-party-20100928
And how many conservatives have we seen in recent years who had previously talked like this Marcus Bachmann (is that her husband?) later turn out to be closeted gays? I swear that is where this hateful attitude comes from for many of them. It’s self-hatred.
Well well people your nature is showing. All conservatives are beyond reason (me included). All facts can be countered by a blizzard of counter facts proving a point and counter proving it if need be….and counter proving it again just for fun…..and counter proving it again just as a smoke screen.Ah the liberal song and dance.Let me tell you a little story.
I talked for three solid years against Fanny and Freddy. In front of I suppose thousands ,and if radio is included millions. Now for three years I was told in every way shape and form by socialists like Tim and bean counters like BS and leaders like Dodd ,Shumann,Franks how wrong i was.The term Troll was not around.Or the evil Tea party. But I stood my ground as i suppose another form of evil in liberal eyes, and did my best to explain in every way i could envision that this will all collapse ,and the results will be catastrophic. To say my facts, and me personally -were attacked is understating things by a country mile. There were times when entire rooms were screaming that i simply did not care for people.Or slurs along those lines .To this date I have received one apology. From a man on the street named Ward.He came up shook my hand and explained that he was the man who screamed in my face(i did remember him).He simply said you were right and i was wrong.Felt good to know there is at least one out of millions.I do not expect a lot of you to change. You see the world through lib colored glasses.I have lived there(come from a political family). And worked there(Clinton/Nader).I know the spin from the corrupt inside and out.And we need you actually.Your clear failure with Obama and regime proves again what we all to often forget. That a president must stand on his record alone.Bush in the end in a weird mind warp was an also-ran against Obama and lost for just that. Now it is Obamas time to loose. It is all a disaster. What I would ask is you put forward your plans. We will put forward ours. And let America decide.Stop the personal slurs and attacks(no one is calling Obama Obamanderthal).
So Bachmann has some strange ideas (as you see it)about saving babies and about gay life styles.Obama has some strange ideas (as i see it) about killing babies, and racist separatist religious mentors. So be it.Moving on…what are their plans?
Bs…i do apologize for not shooting down every fact you present. You throw a lot out(and believe me most of it should be thrown out) and i simply wont address each point. So I am not ignoring you,and I appreciate you being a spoksperson for your side,it is just that it would accomplish little to show you counter thought.Your mind is set and you search for facts to prove what you believe.I don’t believe you would receive enlightenment from authors who espouse the opposite. It becomes a wasted tit for tat my source is better than your source. It is also called a smoke screen .At some point you have to take a stand. What is yours? At least we know tim is a socialist in all that entails.Where do you stand? As i said i spent 3 years pulling my hair out being right….to little effect. So I dont expect anything from your side except that when you fail you step aside.
Oh….it was stupid of me to say there has been any real job creation.Public or government.Better i should of simply said government at this time is bloated, while the private sector limps along.
Jamie……Good going trying to paint a simple return to constitutional framework movement as a KKK rally wit goog ol boys red necks swilling white lightening. What next my man….will you paint Obama rallies as run by the black Panthers and Farakkhan, with blaring rap music, and President Obama talking like some old caricature of black Sambo.Shame on you.Are we not past this ?
Daniel Gross Yahoo Finance:
In April 2011, the private sector added 268,000 jobs. Over the past three months, it has added 760,000 positions, an average of more than 250,000 per month. More than 1.7 million private sector jobs have been created in the past 12 months.
But in April, the government sector once again cut jobs, shedding 24,000 in the month. In the past year, the public sector has reduced employment by 404,000. More people are working than were a year ago, and a greater percentage of those working are in the private sector, 83.1 percent in
April 2011 compared with 82.6 percent in April 2010.

Bachmann argued that the U.S. Census may lead to “internment camps.”
On June 25, 2009, Bachmann appeared on Fox News to defend this, and said, “If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the Census Bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations at the request of President Roosevelt, and that’s how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps.””
In September of 2009, Bachmann warned of a “one-world currency” because she got confused about what a global reserve currency is.
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2009/09/29/bachmann/index.html?source=refresh
In April of 2009 Bachmann said that the “Serve America Act” could lead to “re-education camps.”
Here’s what Bachmann said on Minnesota radio station KTLK-AM in reference to The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, a proposed expansion of the AmeriCorps program.
“It’s under the guise of â┚¬” quote â┚¬” volunteerism. But it’s not volunteers at all. It’s paying people to do work on behalf of government………I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.”
http://minnesotaindependent.com/31237/bachmann-reedcuation-camps
Bachmann thinks Intelligent Design is science.
CNN: “I support intelligent design,” Bachmann told reporters in New Orleans this last weekend following her speech to the Republican Leadership Conference. “What I support is putting all science on the table and then letting students decide. I don’t think it’s a good idea for government to come down on one side of scientific issue or another, when there is reasonable doubt on both sides.”
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/17/bachmann-schools-should-teach-intelligent-design/
B.s…you really to be fair should find every statement by Bachmann that you think stupid…. than match it to one by Obama.Side by side.Im sure there are tons.Than we can come to a conclusion that what>According to you they are handicapped adults?Remember BAM was said to have more gaffes than Bush when measured during their respective election runs.Or Pelosi……or Joe Biden…Ok forget Biden that is too easy.We could play this “stupid”game all day.How many states are there BAM?This is fun.The late night shows and SNL are better at it though.Tell ya what ….you admit Obama is a “stupider”than a box of hammers`dolt and I will do the same for MB.Deal?
On your jobs numbers……I am feeling so much better. You done convinced me.All is well.In fact better than well. ITS GREAT as Tony the tiger would say.We are cruisin now.I feel a wave of bling bling just coming our way.I see that shining house on the hill.Liberal leadership has been like hitting the powerball.Yahoo!!!Thank you Barock oh thank you.
I am ruefully laughing my ass off.Your throwing numbers around in a delusional game son.As of now 2:23 on Mon we are a cooked goose. And Obama is the iron chef.
Ps Anybody hear the great news? The senate has voted against the farm subsidy for ethanol.
pps.Read Dr walter williams.Any of his books on economics will help you along the road to recovery.Maybe someday you too will be a recovering Dem.
Bachmann thinks Obama wants to destroy socialist Medicare and force seniors to buy private insurance.
â┚¬Ã…“This hasn’t been talked about very much â┚¬“ the president’s plan for senior citizens is Obamacare,â┚¬Ã‚ Ms. Bachmann told party activists over the weekend. She added, â┚¬Ã…“I think very likely what the president intends is that Medicare will go broke and ultimately that answer will be Obamacare for senior citizens.â┚¬Ã‚Â
Jonathan Chait explains….Medicare is a single-payer program — the kind liberals have always wanted for the non-elderly, but didn’t get. Turning Medicare into something like the Affordable Care Act would be to move them off single-payer health care and onto a regulated system of private insurance. That would be a conservative plot. I don’t think Obama is planning it, and if he were, it would prove he’s far more right wing than anybody imagined.
http://www.tnr.com/blog/jonathan-chait/90245/bachmann-obama-hates-socialism?utm_source=The+New+Republic&utm_campaign=d4cb9da619-TNR_Pol_062011&utm_medium=email
At the end of a long day, Obama said he had visited 57 states when the right number was 47. An obvious slip of the tongue. That doesn’t remotely prove he’s stupid.
“Remember BAM was said to have more gaffes than Bush when measured during their respective election runs.”
Who said that? Where’s the data?
“Your throwing numbers around in a delusional game son.”
I’m citing actual numbers. There is nothing delusional about them. I realize facts don’t matter to you.
Williams is a big believer in Ayn Rand. Anyone paying more than minute to his thoughts on how economies work ends up being misled.
So Dr williams is a fool eh?Obvious slip of the tongue eh?How about when BAM said after 25 years of close close friendship with that racist separatist creep Rev never right that um- he never heard anything of the nature considering the good Reverends racist blatherings caught on tape (and for sale)any number of times,or had any contact with bill bomber airhead(seems as if he did write obamas book for him according to him and a number of studies(BILL O’LEARY).Seems we have either a liar or a fool or an incompetent as our prez.
HOW about these numbers.Misery index is at a 28 year high.62% higher than when bam took office.Highest was 21.98 in june 1980(carter)Lowest in july 53 3.97 .Look i get it…everybody that wonders after 3 years of Obama, how in the hell he got into Harvard(my school)are never going to be answered.Everything sucks and we are supposed to buy he is doing a great job.THAT is your delusional thinking. Not ours..You have one chance and one chance only to keep power.Changing Demographics…Blacks will vote 98% Obama in a massive racist vote(even Jesus would not receive 98% Catholic votes)And hispanics who will never bite the hands that feeds it.Sad but true.i call it the liberal nanny state brain siphon.Other than that you actually have to do this weird thing called run on your record.Of course libs cant vote Right even if they had a crystal ball that said this country would explode economically under Romney, and die in a nuclear holocaust under obama. It simply is not in their DNA to see it any other way.Come what may
I love that you question who what where said Obama had more gaffes. As if if it was proven to you beyond any shadow of a doubt it would matter one wit.If you found Sarah has a higher IQ would you care(she supposedly does 129 to 116)Yeah Rush is dumb…..(kieth O a genius)Newt an idiot…(Weiner a great man)Rove a moron….(Biden a thinker)the only facts that matter to you wonks are those that prove that a massively empowered Fed able to rule, and redistribute other peoples wealth are the way to go .Sorry I will try to impart a little perspective to your weird slippery slope.Don’t ask me to do more to force you across the reality line.
Read Walter Williams. He will frustrate your mind fuck training with hard facts and insight. When you realize at some point how wrong you have been about so much you believed in(Reagan)well we will leave a light on for ya.
I’m amazed that anyone would read more than one sentence from the delusional Michael e. No, I’m NOT trying to get him to write more, but, no doubt, he will.
People who are presented with the facts and a link to them, either haven’t the intellectual curiosity to check it out or are so involved with their own fantasy of misinformation that they would rather stay in la la land.
Sure am glad I don’t know this guy and have the good sense to NOT read his entire post or reply to any of them. Only one way to stop his drive down the slipery highway of deceit. DON’T REPLY to him.
I just hope there aren’t so many more like him that Bachmann is able to remain on the national political scene. Her positions are scarifying and her voice is so ear splitting it can stop clocks. As for her “buddy,” Sarah Palin, I was working in Alaska in 2008 when she was governer. While many people were indifferent to her, many did not like her at all. They were shocked to find her on the McCain ticket and worked very hard to let people know that pretty is isn’t always as pretty does.
“I love that you question who what where said Obama had more gaffes. As if if it was proven to you beyond any shadow of a doubt it would matter one wit.”
Why can’t you simply cite the source and then watch how i react to it? You’ve referred to the study more than once. Am I mistaken in assuming you know where you saw it and who said it?
My lord man- people have taken the time to write entire articles on this nonsense. The net is overwhelmed with it.Why must you have people (me)take time to search through data to ease your mind.Look for yourself for Gods sake.
Liz(love that name)I was working in Chicago in 2008.Wanna know what folks i knew thought of Obama?A liar ….a nothing…….a sad product of the Saul Alinski school of thug politics.A crook, and a socialist. As for Mrs Bachmann she is not my first choice either.Or sarah. The simple point is either of them are 1000x better than this complete zero.
Your wasting your time, B. S. D’Tektor. Check the archives here on the fellow above if you don’t believe me. Notice how he lies constantly, and then doesn’t try to prove he’s right by getting up a link to his bullshit, and then it’s all your fault? Excellent work on your part on this thread, by the way. And thanks for your little detail about Michelle Bachmann’s old man. I knew it! I knew for sure he was closeted when you reported on his “conversion” therapy and his obsession with homosexuality. (Notice the totalitarian urge implicit in Bachmann’s command: â┚¬Ã…“We have a responsibility as parents and authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings.â┚¬Ã‚Â) Just another gay Christer who hates his true nature (think Ted Haggard, or even that dickhead Fred Phelps, among many others), out to make gay men and women miserable. Both Bachmanns are truly wretched human beings, out to enrich themselves and bring the country down to their level (the absolute bottom of a dirty barrel) in the name of God. Here, in Chicago, we have a name for assholes like these two: fuckin’ jerks.
P.S.: So right, Elizabeth. Especially about You Know Who. Actually, Norman Goldman suggests that we start trumpeting from the rooftops about how liberal Mitt Romney is so that the Right goes completely apeshit, throws a tantrum, and boots Romney out on his ass. Then, hopefully, Bachmann (or Pawlenty, or numbnets “Goodhair” Perry) will be out front, along with her imbecile self-hating gay husband and their crazy, ignorant, stupid Tea-Bagger admirers. A great show, to be sure. Don’t worry: Bachmann has no chance of becoming president, just like her husband has no chance of curing himself of his homosexual “affliction.”
Michael, if there were a real source it would have taken you less time to Google it and share the hyperlink than it took to write your nonresponse.
But, I knew you couldn’t, because no such study exists…..except in your imagination.
@Tim N
Thanks…my whole kabuki on this thread was rope-a-dope…time well spent.
And yes, the “gay conversion” racket is a great place for a closeted man to hang with the boys, ain’t it? She’s obviously his beard. Makes me wonder about her and all those foster kids that moved through their household.
“Read Walter Williams. He will frustrate your mind fuck training with hard facts and insight.”
Ha, ha. Williams in both a libertarian and an austrian school economist. The last thing he does is work with “facts.”
That combo is like being an authority on both Dungeon & Dragons and Ayn Rand books, except with less grasp of basic reality.
“Wanna know what folks i knew thought of Obama?A liar â┚¬Ã‚¦.a nothingâ┚¬Ã‚¦Ãƒ¢Ã¢”š¬Ã‚¦.a sad product of the Saul Alinski school of thug politics.A crook, and a socialist.”
Interesting. All your friends have their right wing heads shoved up their right wing asses as far as you do.
Abe…Those friends are Dems
Bs again everyone who shreds your beliefs daily from Rush to Hannity to Beck to Ann C to Bill O and all the rest(millions) who last voted in all those new house members are all full of shit. And the wee bit of info you can glean on google leads the way to truth.Read more books son.(Walter williams would be great)As i tell patients DO NOT google symptoms. It is the people magazine version.Good to read as you take a dump. Not much for deep thought or understanding. And please go back to Obamas promises on the economy after his election and see who has been proven right.Nothing has worked as he said.As far as working for you as an analyst or fact finder…..um how much will you pay?I made good coin for Clinton.I don’t mean to be belittling .It is just you are so sure of things you are so wrong about.Your main information channel is google.A patient needing surgery was a little worried.i joked with him that i was not a Dr but i learned the procedure on google. His eyes got real big.Well my eyes get big at the little bit of knowledge that is a dangerous thing on these blogs in the same way..(Notice)I never send links. You see that always on liberal blogs as if they have not a thought of their own.I tweak your nose and hope you re- think your position.I would love to have you think for yourself. Most living in their moms basement libs- take on a confrontation of your expert over mine.
if i do decide to run for the state congressional seat..does this mean i can count on your support?Tim?Carol?Oh boy sounds quiet out there.
Google isn’t an information channel. It’s a search engine. It produces no content or information. It simply leads to information. Information that can be verified. Unlike yours.
You see article links on liberal websites because the writers want to show sources that confirm the facts being presented. You don’t because you can’t. Like your fake “study.”
Almost all the links I used in this thread were articles I had already read. I read first, form opinions second.
“Bs again everyone from Rush to Hannity to Beck to Ann C to Bill O and all the rest(millions) who last voted in all those new house members are all full of shit.”
Credit, where it’s due. You finally got something right.
Gore got 90% of the black vote in 2000.
Kerry got 88% of the black vote in 2004.
Obama got 95% of the black vote in 2008.
In other words, half of black republicans switched parties. That’s not massive racism, except to a white teabagger.
In 1936, Franklin Roosevelt captured 71 percent of the black vote.
Still, in that Presidential election and the six following ones, Republican nominees took 25 percent to 40 percent of the black vote.
The big change came in 1964 with Barry Goldwater and ”states’ rights,” a phrase and philosophy widely seen as anti-black and opposed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, the godfather of voting rights for blacks. In that Presidential election and the seven after, no Republican gained more than 15 percent of the black vote.
G. H. W. Bush received 10 percent in 1988. In 1992, he added one percentage point. In 1996 Robert Dole got 12% of the black vote while Ross Perot got 4%
B.S. D’Tektor, you’re a pontificatin’ font of info, alright. “Doktor” Troll, and his patients, and their advisors Ayn “Witless” Rand and Walter “Wiggles” Williams, recoil at your every truth-dig. Superb work, sir.
B.s..There is no faction(certainly not the white faction)that will ever again vote 95% white or republican or anything else i can imagine.I state again.White people will never vote in a block in the 95 percentile for ANYTHING ever again thank you God.If it did it would be racism.Plain and simple. It is not even arguable.
Ho hum ho hum……..In the future if this is the only way you can “think”I will try to help you along with google articles that you can understand, and use to understand that the way you see things is not the only way a subject can be viewed.Take it for granted that even that which I proffer to you will be in my eyes akin to people mag.A small snippet without context or expansion.I am sure that when the president is formulating his policy and plans that he seldom goes to google for direction.Though he probably uses it to help his daughters with homework.
Tim…Ever read Atlas shrugged?Great book.Ok maybe not as good as the communist manifesto or the socialist handbook but…..:)
My prescription for you is to sit down on the beach in a comfortable beach chair.Take out a cold beer(if you can on your beach)Turn the radio to your favorite station, put your shades on and RELAX.Relax and breathe(remember to use sunblock 30+ at least .)Take a good long look at that insanely beautiful girl in the red bathing suit.Life is good bud.It is damn good
Ps Tim I have got to know.Im gonna get personal here. You have to answer this cause its gonna keep me up nights if you dont.Be serious.B.s you can get in on this
What kind of music do you like?Simple easy question.Whos is your fav?
what is a recession? When your neighbor looses his job
