We have to build an alternative to the corpress.

"Duh" - I know.

But it begins by truly engaging those it wishes to reach, doesn't it? "Progressive" media as a matter of habit treats its viewers, listeners and readers as pretty much just a source of donations - which may be one reason funds are admittedly scarce.

If folks don't feel they're part of a community - which entails a respect for ideas and a welcoming of honest criticism - they aren't going to support the orgs that rely on that support, are they?

It ain't "We report - you decide". It should be "We report - you respond - we all discuss - we're all involved".

Sorry - I can't come up with anything catchy at the moment - but you get the drift.

So how's about it?
