I will assume you make somewhere near the median income of someone in the US, $48k. If you discovered you would be bringing home  would be paying 19% more in taxes yourself (somewhere around $2500 a year), wouldn&#039;t you feel a little peeved? Certainly you could make do, since most industrialized nations have a median income that is much lower. Does that make you a bad person and take away your ability to be upset about it? I think not.

It seems like you are ok with anyone who makes substantially more than median income having their taxes raised by an arbitrary amount, but I don&#039;t hear you volunteering your own money.

The discussion of tax rates should be pragmatic, and taxes should not be vindictive. Fines are for punishment. People should not be punished for success, but everyone should contribute to society. Stop being mean about it.</description>
