It seems many "progressives" base their opposition to "The Surge, the Sequel" on the fact that US policy in Afghanistan is "not working" ... rather than the fact that our gummint is a criminal under international law for invading and occupying another nation without moral or legal justification.

If it's good enough for Iraq ...

Let me ask this ...

What if it *was* working? What if the country had been "pacificed", and a "democratic government" (willing to do the US' bidding, it goes without saying) was in place?

Would any of that in any way justify the US' criminal acts and the death and destruction they've caused?

Yet I keep seeing how increasing troop strength is wrong because it helps the insurgency by turning the population against the occupiers.

Since when are we in the business of giving advice on how to win an immoral and illegal war?

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, folks. Get your friggin' heads on straight, and fight for getting every molecule of US presence out of Afghanistan and forcing it to pay just compensation for the lives it's destroyed.

Y'know ... the whole "peace and justice" thing?

Oy ...
